The Guitar Orchestra has been rehearsing and playing for almost almost three years. We welcome intermediate and stronger players of all styles and ages. Our repertoire covers a range of music from Classical to Jazz Standards as well as Latin, Spanish, Asian and American Folk and Popular Music.

Current and former members share their experiences with the orchestra:

“Barry’s unique musical and skillful direction keeps all players involved regardless of history or skill level. A wonderful experience: collegiality among fellow guitarists, great material, meaningful and enjoyable technical challenges and great sounding ensemble. Even as a long time player, I’ve grown in many ways and the whole thing is a blast!” – Erie Jones

“This was a great experience! Perhaps you’ll find as I did, that this Guitar Orchestra is a combination of sessions and lessons where there’s almost no separation between learning about music and the guitar and immediately applying what you learn. Although the group of players we had was diverse in skill and style, we all worked to combine our sounds to make a contribution to the final performance. Barry’s style of sharing and teaching makes the learning very accessible to all players, but still challenges you to take the next step in your skill and ability as a guitarist. Playing and learning with the Guitar Orchestra was the most beneficial thing I’d ever done to advance my musical abilities.” – Mark Tomlinson

"Maestro Pollack is masterful at arranging and teaching great compositions for multiple guitars and including players with different strengths for a cohesive ensemble. Rehearsals are fun and instructive, and its a delight to build from simple separate parts to an integrated ensemble performance. Guitar Orchestra is highly recommended for guitar players who want to improve their ensemble and reading skills and play arrangements from eclectic mix of musical styles." - CH

“I enjoyed the Guitar Orchestra because it got me playing my guitar again after a long dry spell. The selections varied in style and level of difficulty, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, so I learned a lot and had a lot of fun with some great people. I will definitely be back” - Glenn E., Seattle

“I've really enjoyed playing these arrangements, and the much-needed reading practice. The scales in 1st position are yielding results! As I've been looking over and sight reading various sheet music I have, I notice that I can now glance at the key signature, and then play it pretty well - my fingers are much more educated to the key/scale its in. Cool.”

One parent had this to say: “For a younger guitarist, the Guitar Orchestra is a very different experience than just playing with an age-group class. The whole class is really into the music and is totally self-motivated. It’s helped our son to see music from a different perspective. Barry is very involved with the class and they become involved with him and each other, as well as the music.” - L.W. (parent of an orchestra player)
